Let a Conversion Concierge Help You!

About the Process

If you have already purchased a van and are ready to convert it into a mobility van to enjoy the accessibility and freedom that come with it, you are all set. We are able to convert a wide array of vans from major automotive manufacturers, including Toyota, Chrysler and Dodge. To ensure your van is able to undergo conversion to a mobility van, check our Conversions page. If you are in need of a van, we also have you covered. We offer a selection of new and pre-owned, low mileage vehicles that are ready for conversion. We recognize that finding a vehicle can be a challenge and with the help of an experienced Mobility Concierge, we know you will find the perfect vehicle and accessible conversion at a price you can afford.

Once you have the van you wish to convert to a mobility van, it’s time to ship to our Atlanta headquarters. There are a number of companies that provide shipping services, and it’s best to conduct a search and compare prices from various companies before making a decision. Or simply allow an Adaptive Vans Concierge to do the work for you.

Other factors that can influence the price include whether you require an enclosed trailer over an open carrier, flexibility in delivery dates, popularity of the route and seasonal demand. However, we’ll do our very best to get you your mobility van as soon as possible once completed.

Once the van arrives at our state-of the-art facility, our expert staff begins the wheelchair conversion modification process. We are able to modify vans in one of two different ways, with each having its own benefits and considerations.

Side entry accessible conversions makes dropping off and picking up passengers curbside easier and offers two positions for wheelchair passengers and in certain cases a driver in a wheelchair as well. With the touch of a button, the ramp quickly and easily folds out and once the occupant enters the ramp retracts and stows back into the mobility van with equal ease.

For those looking for a more affordable conversion option, a rear entry conversion is an option worth considering. With a rear entry ramp, regular (non-accessible) parking spaces are available, eliminating the need to seek out accessible parking. In addition to that, with a rear entry modification, the vehicle has a slightly improved ground clearance for those living in rural areas where uneven roadways are more present.

Once the work is completed, the only thing you need to worry about is where to go first, confident in the fact that you have the flexibility and freedom to travel to any destination and experience the comfort and convenience that only a conversion mobility van can offer.

Regardless if you’re traveling for work or pleasure, you will surely enjoy the many benefits of your newly converted mobility van. And, with our comprehensive warranty and service centers located across the country, you can be assured that your new mobility van will be protected in the case of any mechanical issues.

About Adaptive Vans

Since 1979, Adaptive Vans has had one clear goal: to provide our customers with excellence, simplicity and convenience at an affordable price. We are a proud charter member of the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) and align with their mission to improve transportation options for people with disabilities.  We strive to produce high quality wheelchair accessible vehicles to help people with disabilities lead happy, healthy and more mobile lives.

We also take safety very seriously. As a member of NMEDA, we strictly adhere to the safety standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and participate in NMEDA’s Quality Assurance Program™ (QAP), a nationally recognized accreditation program for the mobility equipment industry developed to promote quality, dependability, and safety.

In 1979 Adaptive Mobility Systems, Inc. began by installing lifts and custom components in vans for wheelchair accessibility. In 1999, under current management, we designed and manufactured our first lowered floor minivan conversion. We have built and crash tested our minimally invasive conversions on the Dodge, Chrysler, VW, Kia, Honda, and Toyota minivan platforms while not compromising the structural integrity of the vehicle and exceeding safety standards.

From 1999 to 2023 all of our wheelchair van conversions were sold exclusively by AMS Vans, an internet marketer, under the branding “AMS.” In late 2017 AMS Vans sold its business, ending our long partnership. We now independently sell our wheelchair van conversions to mobility dealers all over the United States, and recently to the public with the new branding “Adaptive Vans.” Using the knowledge and skills we gained from converting over 7,000 vans we believe we can offer the strongest, simplest, and safest wheelchair accessible vans at a price no other manufacturer can compete with.

Based in Tucker, Georgia, our production facility is staffed with skilled professionals, using the latest technology to create converted vehicles that are easy to maintain and service at one of our many service centers across the country. Whether selecting a van from our inventory or converting a van purchased from another source, our finished products appear and perform nearly identical from a vehicle purchased directly from the manufacturer’s showroom. We are able to perform conversions that match up with our customers’ needs and desires. Whether they are looking for side or rear entry, we are able to come up with the perfect solution at a price that is well within reach for most families.

Thanks to our long-standing reputation as a trusted brand, we are able to work with mobility dealers and car dealerships to help them provide their customers with the freedom and accessibility that a wheelchair-accessible van can deliver.

Safety, reliability and quality. Take a look at what Adaptive Vans has to offer and start planning your mobile future.

Where Does Our Inventory Come From? A.K.A. "Donor-Vans"

The majority of the vans we source for both our (Mobility Dealer re-sellers) and retail consumers arrive from the large rental car companies such as: Enterprise, Avis, and Budget. When rental vehicles reach pre-determined mileage limits (which vary between rental car companies) they are de-fleeted or removed from inventory, safety inspected, then offered up for sale at public dealer auctions. This is where having long term relationships in place with the Rental-Car Fleet Managers truly pay’s dividends. This relationship also allows us “first-pick” of only the best examples available on the market at that precise moment. In fact, we purchase these (pick of the litter vans) several at a time.  In doing so, it reduces our costs by avoiding additional auction and transportation fees, that would otherwise be passed onto you. By avoiding the fiercely competitive used-car market auctions, we’re able to purchase vehicles at a fair price. Unlike the retail automotive giants such as; Carmax, Drivetime, and Carvana. Which end-up paying a premium price for blemished vehicles, simply based upon market pressures to stock available inventory.

In Bob the Builder’s “Market Watch” Adaptive Vans CEO Bob “The Builder” Boston will show you what the current and available used market van prices are. Including special purchases of new vans from various automotive sources if we feel they warrant our attention.

We will then easily categorize them by each manufacturer:

Dodge Caravan, Toyota Sienna, Chrysler Pacifica

This information will then be updated as wholesale market conditions change in real time. With this inside information, you’ll clearly see what you will and should pay for a van PRIOR to the conversion based upon our pass-through, insider-wholesale pricing.

So, take it from me “Bob the Builder”; Don’t overpay for a wheelchair accessible conversion because the competition refuses to provide transparent pricing. Factory direct savings means you pay a fair, non-inflated, transparent, wholesale price for the van AND the best possible conversion price available on the market now.

Give us a call today and allow my experienced Sales Team the opportunity to serve your Family through every step of the process. Because we’re not satisfied until your new accessible van is built, delivered and parked in your driveway!

Just thought you should know!
